Guinea pigs do not usually require regular bathing. They groom themselves and bathing can strip their hair and skin of important oils. Guinea pigs generally do not like being bathed either.

Long-haired guinea pigs, those who do not keep themselves very clean or guinea pigs with skin conditions may need bathing. Chrissie  (Gorgeous Guineas) recommends bathing guinea pigs with her products every 6 weeks to help prevent fungal and parasitic problems.  If you are going to bath your guinea pig or your guinea pig needs treating for a skin condition, we recommend her products http://www.gorgeousguineas.co.uk/

Please don’t use pet shop bought shampoos on your guinea pigs. Many contain harsh chemicals that can harm your guinea pigs skin. Some also contain chemicals which have been shown to have serious adverse effects on guinea pigs.
